PROJECT SUMMARY

Sanaag and Sool regions have been facing both acute and chronic water shortages for many years. The prolonged droughts experienced in 2016/2017 have seriously affected the local communities and the water facilities too. This Project intervention has been planned to address the existing critical water, sanitation and hygiene gaps in these regions where the majority of the population are vulnerable pastoralist, agro-pastoralist and internally displaced people (IDPs).

Adeso propose to drill and equip strategic boreholes in these 2 main centers locations (Badhan and Qawlo) of Badhan and Taleeh district of Sool and Sanaag regions, with adequate water distribution system.

The proposed boreholes will have several distribution systems, including different water points for the livestock to avoid water contamination. The project will also construct latrines for the poor households, hygiene and sanitation awareness as well as strengthening the water governance structures Adeso proposes to guarantee access to safe and clean water and sanitation facilities as well as to promote good hygiene practices in an effort to improve the health status of in the target areas.

The project aims to reduce the negative effects of drought on pastoral lives and livelihoods are reduced through the timely delivery of water for human and animal consumption and Sustain livelihoods through provision of water for both people and livestock.

SCOPE OF WORK

The objective of the documentary is to assess progress made towards reaching the objectives of the project and assess the quality of project implementation.

Adeso is seeking the services of a photographer/videographer to visually document the current project activities in the program’s areas of operation; the photographer will assist the organization to document its various projects activities and success stories through capturing videos and photography.

The consultant will be expected to travel to areas covered by the project which include Sanaag, and Sool regions:

· To capture high resolution images of Adeso’s project activities in Sool and Sanaag regions

· Capture impact success stories of individuals interviewed during the trip.

· Caption each photograph with specific details such as the location taken, name of the person (for portraits), activity and any other relevant information.

· Short videos in HD of fully-produced clip of in 1080p (HD) resolution.

· A detailed report (in English) on all photography and filming locations, including names and contact
details of all individuals photographed or that will appear on film.

CONSULTANCY PERIOD

The consultancy period will cover remaining project period of January - September 2019; divided into 5 different phases, each phase taking minimum 12 days including editing and reporting. All travel and accommodation will be covered by Consultant.

EVALUATION CRITERIA:

· Outstanding photography and videography skills (provide samples).

· Outstanding photo and video editing skills (provide samples).

· Five years’ experience working in the Horn of Africa region. Experience working in remote areas, experience in Somalia/Somali regions preferred.

· Detailed technical proposal addressing TOR requirements and demonstrated understanding of TOR.

· A financial proposal outlining cost of service and other associated costs (including training/viewing session, logistics).

· Detailed work plan of phases.

COPYRIGHT AND INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS

In consideration of the fees paid, the Consultant expressly assigns to Adeso any copyright arising from the works the consultant produces while executing this contract. All images (whether used for online or print purposes) must however bear the consultant’s photo credit, as specified by international intellectual property rights. The consultant may not use, reproduce or otherwise disseminate or authorize others to use, reproduce or disseminate such works without prior consent from Adeso.
