KAAFI Water Drillers Inc. owns and operates drilling rigs in Somaliland with the potential to expand to the neighboring countries and to the regional market. KAAFI is committed to providing equal employment opportunities to all employees without regard to race, religion, age, color and sex.

MAIN DUTIES

As a rig operation specialist, you will be responsible for:

ü  Operate water well drilling rig, air compressor and other equipment to drill, bore and dig for residential, commercial and industrial water wells, and install well screens, casings and other well fixtures;

ü  Review client requirements and proposed locations for water wells and verify depths alignment of boring positions;

ü  Select the appropriate drill for the job, using knowledge of rock and soil conditions and handle specific method of drilling including reverse circulation drilling;

ü  Clean wells in preparation for use;

ü  Install, test, maintain and repair water well pumps, piping systems and equipment and perform pumping tests to assess well performance;

ü  Perform routine mechanical maintenance work on water well drilling rig, air compressor, mud pump and related accessors;

ü  Inspect core samples to determine nature of strata encountered;

ü  Monitor drilling operations, checking gauges and listening to equipment to assess drilling conditions and to determine the need to adjust drilling or alter equipment;

ü  Retrieve lost equipment from bore holes, using fishing tools and equipment;

ü  Supervise drilling assistants;

ü  Gather and collect critical relative information pertaining to rig equipment failures in an effort to improve operation/maintenance processes and procedures;

ü  Oversee equipment condition monitoring systems and notify customers of issues which could result in catastrophic equipment failure and unexpected downtime;

ü  Use protective equipment and ensure drilling assistants use compulsory protective equipment;

DOCUMENTATION AND REPORTING

ü  Perform and document pre-drilling inspections;

ü  fill up a daily drilling report for the activities performed during his/her shift describing the work carried out and the equipment utilized;

ü  Update the pipe tally book and draft dimensioned drawings of equipment run in the well;

ü  Prepare drilling reports of all drilling projects;

ü  Record drilling progress and geological data;

ü  Prepare and document maintenance reports on company equipment;

ü  Report unsafe conditions and work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner;

ü  Document geological formations encountered during work;

ü  Ensure that all reporting routines are followed and that all equipment related paperwork are carried out on regular basis.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

ü  5+ years' experience in water well drilling services, plus advanced mechanical, hydraulic and electrical skills;

ü  Must have high school diploma or equivalent; prefer a trade/technical school diploma;

ü  Progression to crew supervisor or manager is possible with experience and additional education and training.

ü  Be able to understand of common drilling practices across a wide range of environments;

ü  Have attention to details and confidentiality;

ü  Be a good team player and display good communication skills;

ü  Display the ability to communicate professionally with customers and build relationship;

ü  Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills;

ü  Must demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot problems and determine the proper steps to address issues;

ü  Work well under pressure;

ü  Must be a team-oriented person;

ü  Technical writing skills;

ü  Ability to develop new ideas and work independently;

ü  Creative thinker and problem solver;

ü  Attention to detail;

ü  Ability to work in the field as required;

ü  Work rotational 12 hours shifts - weekends, days, nights, and holidays possible.
